The double house dates from before the Civil War. Its original Greek Revival features were modernized with an Italianate cornice and a broad porch.

The 700 Block of North Third Street has been badly hurt by the construction of I-95 and I-64 which use it as exits. It might be possible to convert some of the houses to commercial use.
