A special meeting of the Board of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth
University was held on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at 2:30 p.m. in the
University Meeting Center located at 101 North Harrison Street.
Present were Messrs. Flippen (Rector), Axselle, Markel, Plymale, Pyon,
Rigsby and Townes; and Drs. Long, Perkinson, Smith and Wootton. Mesdames
Benner and Miles; and Messrs. Gresham and Weinberg were absent. Also
present were Drs. Trani, Kontos and McDavis; Messrs. Gehring, Rhone, Ross,
Timmreck and Wyeth; and Mesdames Jones, Messmer and Price.

initiative was presented by the Vice Provost of University Outreach.
