              MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE 
                              BOARD OF VISITORS
                      OF VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY 
                              January 18, 1995


               A Special Meeting of the Board of Visitors of 

        Virginia Commonwealth University was held on Wednesday, 

        January 18, 1995, at 7 p.m. in the University Meeting 

        Center.

               Present were Messrs. Whitworth (Rector), Arenstein, 

        Flippen, Meador, Townes and Weinberg; and Drs. Dombalis, 

        Gilmer, Johnson, Smith, Vaughan and Wootton. Absent were 

        Messrs. Framme and Siegel; and Mesdames Teig and Vaughan. 

        Also present were Drs. Trani, Dewey, Harris and Jones; 

        Messrs. Ross; and Mrs. Price.

               Mr. Whitworth called the meeting to order. Dr. 

        Trani presented an update on the Virginia Biotechnology 

        Research Park.

               The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
