MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF VISITORS
OF VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
May 16, 1984
A Special Meeting of the Board of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth
University was held on Wednesday, May 16, 1984, at 6:00 p.m. in the
University Meeting Center.
Present were Messrs. Allen, Cotten, Ludeman, Morris and Smith; Drs.
Coleman, Gayle and Nemuth; and hrs. Thalhimer. Absent were Mesdames
Bemiss and Whittemore; and Messrs. Craigie, Farinholt, Grey, Lipman and
Reynolds. Also present were Drs. Ackell, Hall, Seibel and Woods; Mess-
rs. Bruegman, Guerdon and Ross; and Mrs. Price.
Mr. Ludeman called the meeting to order and Dr. Ackell introduced
Dr. Hugo Seibel, Chairman of the University Promotion and Tenure Com-
mittee.
Dr. Seibel presented a report outlining the Promotion and Tenure
procedures from departmental review to the University Promotion and
Tenure Committee.
Following Dr. Seibel's review, Mr. Ross reviewed the Board's proce-
dures should an appeal reach that level.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
