MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF VISITORS
OF VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
December 8, 1983
A special meeting of the Board of Visitors was held to hear the
tenure appeal of Dr. Mohammed Kalimi on Thursday, December 8, 1983, at
9:00 a.m. in the University Meeting Center.
Present from the Board were Messrs. Craigie, Farinholt, Grey, Lip-
man, Ludeman, Morris and Smith; Mesdames Bemiss and Thalhimer; and Drs.
Coleman, Gayle and Nemuth. Absent were Messrs. Allen, Cotten and
Reynolds and Mrs. Whittemore. Also present were Drs. Ackell, Bradley,
Briggs, Hall, Kalimi, Price, Schwartz, Seibel and Woods; Mr. Ross and
Mrs. Price.
Mr. Ludeman called the meeting to order and on motion made, second-
ed and approved the Board convened into executive session to discuss
personnel matters involving identifiable employees or faculty of VCU
and to discuss legal matters with its attorney as authorized by Section
2.1-344 a(l) and a(6) of the Virginia Freedom on Information Act.
Following executive session, on motion made and seconded, the Board
approved granting Dr. Kalimi's appeal and awarding him tenure.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m.
