MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF VISITORS OF
VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
HELD ON JANUARY 27, 1969
A special meeting of the Board of Visitors of Virginia
Commonwealth University was held on the 27th day of January, 1969
luncheon meeting of the Board attended by Dr. and Mrs. Brandt) in
at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon (immediately following an informal
the Board Room of Sanger Hall, Health Sciences Division of the
University in the City of Richmond, Virginia, pursuant to due notice
Present were all of the members of the Board of Visitors
except Messrs. Brent, Michaux, Sheffield and Thalhimer.
Present by invitation were Mr. Wygal and Mrs. Hodges.
Mr. Dabney served as Chairman of the meeting and Mrs.
Hodges as Secretary thereof in the absence of Mr. Brent.
Thereupon, on behalf of the Screening Committee for the
Selection of a President, Mr. Wayne recommended that the Board of
Visitors offer the Presidency of Virginia Commonwealth University
to Dr. Warren W. Brandt at a salary of $30,000 per annum, which
amount, he said, he understood was satisfactory with the Common-
wealth.
A general discussion then followed with the unanimous
view being expressed that Dr. Brandt was extremely well qualified
for the position and the University would indeed be fortunate to
obtain his services, after which on motion duly made, seconded and
unanimously carried, the Screening Committee was authorized to
offer the Presidency of the University to Dr. Brandt, his compen-
sation to be in the amount of $30,000 per annum.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously
carried, adjourned.
