MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE
BOARD OF VISITORS OF VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
HELD ON DECEMBER 19, 1968
A special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board
of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University was held on the
19th day of December, 1968 at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon at No.
333 East Grace Street in the City of Richmond, Virginia pursuant to
due notice.
Present were all of the members of the Committee.
Mr. Wayne served as Chairman of the meeting and Mr. Brent
as Secretary thereof.
Mr. Wayne then generally reviewed the current situation
in connection with the selection of a President and reviewed the
qualifications of a number of Nominees whom he thought might be
interviewed by the Committee. General agreement was reached in
this connection, whereupon Mr. Wayne stated that he would make
the necessary arrangements.
Mr. Wayne then reviewed the report of Dr. Daniel T. Watts
to Mr. Wygal with respect to the Virginia Institute for Scientific
Research and called attention to the suggestion therein set forth
that an effort be made to obtain supplementary funds from the
Commonwealth. A general discussion then followed, after which on
motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the report was
approved and the request for supplementary funds from the Common-
wealth was authorized. The Chairman and Rector indicated that
appropriate action would be promptly taken in this connection.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously
carried, adjourned.
