MINUTES OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF
THE BOARD OF VISITORS OF VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
HELD ON MAY 7, 1968
The first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board
of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University was held on the 7th
day of May, 1968 immediately following an adjourned meeting of the
Board of Visitors in the Board room of the Medical College of
in the City of Richmond, Virginia, pursuant to due notice.
Virginia, Medical Education Building, 11th and Marshall Streets
Present were all of the members of the Committee except
Mr. Dabney.
Mr. Edward A. Wayne served as Chairman of the meeting
and Mr. Brent as Secretary thereof.
The Chairman opened the meeting by reminding the
members of the Committee that the Rector had advised the Board
that he had constituted the Executive Committee as a Screening
Committee for the selection of a President with the election of
the President to be by the Board. He pointed out that it had
been agreed that the Executive Committee would report its plan
of procedure to the next meeting of the Board and that accordingly
consideration should be given to the plan.
A general discussion then followed with respect to
how the Committee should go about its work with various
suggestions being made. In conclusion, it was unanimously agreed
that Mr. Wilson would prepare a memorandum setting forth the
procedure to be followed so that after approval thereof by the
Executive Committee, it might be presented to the Board for
consideration.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the same on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously
carried, adjourned.
