Tribute of Respect.
At a meeting of the Students of the Medical College
of Virginia, held on Monday, February 6th 1865, V[incent] C. Huff
was called to the chair, and Geo[rge] S. Barnsley was appointed
Secretary.
The object Of the meeting having been explained by
the Chairman, on motion the following named gentlemen
were selected as a Committee to prepare a series of Resolutions
for adoption by the meeting: Messrs P. M. L Burbank, A[lexander] G.[C.]
Ewell and W[illiam] H. Shephard. After retiring for a short time,
the Committee presented the following resolutions, which
were unanimously adopted:
Resolved, That we have learned with feelings
of the deepest sorrow of the decease of Prof[essor] James H.
Conway, our worthy and beloved instructor, whose attain-
ments and skill in his profession eminently qualified
him for the Chair he so ably filled.
Resolved, That we deplore the death of our
esteemed instructor as an event which, whilst it reminds
us of the frail nature of all earthly associations, it also
enforces the melancholy truth that neither high attain-
ments, nor great usefulness can evade the Destroyer or
arrest his march.
Resolved, That we recognize in this event the
