Dear Sir
I have sent up
my application to be relieved from
field duty and reassigned to
Hospital duty in Richmond for
four months for the purpose of
attending Medical Lectures at
your College. My application was
approved by all the H[eadquarters] as far
up as the Corps [Headquarters. It was then
sent to Gen[era]l Lee to be forwarded
to the Sec[re]t[ar]y of War. THe application
was made on the 22nd of Sept[ember]. Ad[d]ressed
to the Sec[re]t[ar]y of War. I suppose by
this time it have reached the war

My application was approved by all the H[eadquarters] as far up as the Corps [Headquarters. It was then sent to Gen[era]l Lee to be forwarded to the Sec[re]t[ar]y of War. THe application was made on the 22nd of Sept[ember]. Ad[d]ressed to the Sec[re]t[ar]y of War. I suppose by this time it have reached the war Dep[artmen]t. I would take it as a great favor if you would look after it for me. Your influence will no dou[b]t insure its approval and facilitate its movement. I would like to be relieved as early as possible as it will take some time to make arrangements to commense with-the-opening of the course, I would like very much to hear from you after you have seen the War Dep[artmen]t as you probabl[y] will learn what disposition has been made of my application. I will be under many obligation for any assistance from you Very truly yours Henry G. Arthur Hospital Steward 7th S[outh] C[arolina] V[olunteers] Corner's Brigade, Kersham's Division, Longstreet's Corps, Richmond Va. P.s. the application was made from 6th Nov. 1864 until 6th March 1865. I would like to have at least two weeks to make the neccessary arran- gements. very truly etc. H[enry] G. A[rthur]. Henry G.
